Lawrence Cannon launches a new initiative to promote the Pontiac Agri-food
September 21, 2009

Ottawa – Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister responsible for the Outaouais, and MP for Pontiac, announced today an initiative to promote the agricultural industry in Pontiac by advertising the businesses on his website, http://www.lawrencecannon.com/EN/pontiac_agri-food/, which is visited by thousands every month.

This initiative aims to promote the quality and the diversity of the products available in the Pontiac riding, especially during these trying economic times, and will encourage the residents of Pontiac and elsewhere to enjoy the flavourful experiences of the region.

“I wish to advertize Pontiac’s agri-food industry and to contribute to the growth of these businesses.” said Minister Cannon. “This project is a great way to stimulate local business, and will attract more visitors to the region.”

The Government of Canada is committed to fully support the agricultural and agri-food industry in Canada through different programs, funding programs that will stimulate innovation and increase market opportunities.  The Government of Canada equally supports the tourism industry in the Outaouais and is assisting with opening up to new markets.
