Lawrence Cannon announces Funding for the Pakwaun Festival
September 15, 2009
Ottawa – Lawrence Cannon, MP for Pontiac, Minister responsible for the Outaouais and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced a $6,500.00 contribution to the Lions Club of Maniwaki for the Pakwaun Festival that will take place from January 28th to 31st 2010.

“We are proud to support the Lions Club of Maniwaki,” said Minister Cannon. “These events — whether marking an important historic moment or celebrating our Canadian culture — also provide a boost to our local businesses and help support our local artists and artisans.”

Canadians have every reason to be proud of their communities and to celebrate their collective sense of belonging to a unique place in this country. Our Government wants to partner with communities. We want to encourage the stories and the celebrations. We want future generations to be aware of their origins and Canada’s rich and diverse heritage.

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
