Auberge du Draveur receives $212,500 in Government of Canada funding for lodging improvements
December 14, 2009
Maniwaki, Quebec – Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Pontiac, today announced the awarding of $212,500 in repayable financial assistance to Auberge du Draveur for the modernization of its facilities. The Community Adjustment Fund, a measure in the economic action plan adopted by the Government of Canada in January 2009, provides for the funding of growth-generating projects like the one proposed by Auberge du Draveur. The assistance granted in this case will serve for the installation of a glass structure covering the inn’s pool, terrace and one of its two existing hot tubs. “In ligh of the current economic context, the Government of Canada is supporting initiatives that promise to further local economic diversification and job creation in the short term. This Auberge du Draveur project satisfies these objectives and will enable the enterprise to improve its accommodations while strengthening the region’s economic development,” stated Minister Cannon. Auberge du Draveur is a 61-room inn located in the heart of Maniwaki, the largest city in the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau Regional County Municipality. The project announced today is entirely in line with the strategy the enterprise launched in 2007 to improve and upgrade its accommodations. “The Government of Canada has made its economic action plan the key financial instrument for helping communities regain their economic health. This large-scale measure aims not only to bring about our rapid recovery, but also to lay the foundations for solid long-term economic growth and job creation. This plan will result in nearly $62 billion in assistance being delivered over the next two years,” Minister Cannon concluded. For more on Canada’s Economic Action Plan, visit www.actionplan.gc.ca. |
